Brave Warriors NCW – Support Key

To help families and participants find the right fit, each class or outing is categorized by COLOR. All of our programs are rooted in inclusion, flexibility, and respect for each participant’s unique strengths and needs.

🔵 Blue – High Support

Blue classes are designed for participants who require higher than moderate support due to increased behavioral, communication, or sensory needs. They may display frequent emotional dysregulation, require close supervision, and need more structured and individualized guidance. These classes include:

  • One-step verbal instructions and/or visual supports

  • Space for participants with a 1:1 caregiver or assistant

  • Physical prompting or assistance as needed

  • Consistent routines and structure

  • Frequent use of visual schedules and cues

  • Sensory accommodations such as vocalizations and movement

  • Flexibility in participation styles

  • Encouragement of engagement through simple turn-taking

🟡 Yellow – Moderate Support

Yellow classes are designed for participants who require moderate support due to challenges with communication, mobility, social interactions, or mild behavioral needs. These classes offer:

  • 1–2 step verbal instructions, with or without visual cues

  • Prompting to initiate communication and respond

  • Class schedules and visual supports

  • Instructor and assistant support for breaking down skills

  • Tolerance for occasional sensory needs or movement

  • Gentle encouragement for building independence in a supported setting

🟢 Green - Minimal Support

Green Classes are designed for participants who require minimal support with communication, mobility, social interactions and behavioral needs. These classes offer:

  • Verbal or written instructions with minimal prompting

  • Multiple activities that may be worked on or finished within one class

  • Opportunities for students to independently initiate tasks in a class setting

  • Options for group conversations about class-related topics

  • Encouragement of independent use of coping skills (e.g. taking breaks, using fidgets, going for a walk, etc.)

  • Written instructions or activities that involve reading/writing
